Instructions
- Gather youth into a circle.
- Say, “Today we will play a game called Buzz."
- Explain the rules of the game.
- Everyone will take turns saying a number, starting with 1, 2, 3, … and so on.
- At every number with a 7 in it or a multiple of 7, that player needs to say BUZZ instead of the number.
- The next player continues the series as normal.
- For example, the count would be: 1-2-3-4-5-6-BUZZ-8-9-10-11-12-13-BUZZ-15-16-BUZZ-…
- If a player fails to say BUZZ, the count goes back to the beginning and the game starts over.
- Ask, "Does anyone have any questions for me?"
- Have the players count around the circle quickly, and see how high they can go.
- To make the game more challenging, add in FIZZ for numbers that have 5 in it or multiples of 5. Remind players to say FIZZ-BUZZ for numbers that meet both 5 and 7 criteria (e.g., 35, 70, 75, would be FIZZ-BUZZ numbers).
- The game can be made easier or more challenging by changing the numbers used or replacing BUZZ with another word.
- Continue the game for several rounds, using other numbers or words as time permits.
- Thank everyone for their participation.
