- Use auditory cues when you need to redirect youth to focus on you.
- Take time to introduce this Attention Getter before you use it.
- Say a word or phrase, and have everyone respond with a rehearsed word or phrase to follow. For example:
- Peanut Butter / Jelly
- Flat tire / Shhhhhh
- Red Robin / Yummmmm
- Knock knock / Who's there?
- Spongebob / Squarepants
- Alligator Aligator / Chomp chomp chomp
- I said a-boom-chick-a-boom. I said a-boom-chick-a-boom / I said a-boom-chick-a-boom. I said a-boom-chick-a-boom
- Hocus pocus / Everybody focus
- Winner winner / Chicken dinner
- Mac and cheese / Everybody freeze

Review added on: 22 June 2026I shared with the youth we would see how many call and responses they knew while they continued to play. We all learned a lot of new call and responses that we will implement this summer and throughout the school year.
Some kids knew a few of the call and responses we were learning today.
