Instructions
- Instruct youth to gather in a circle, or in two circles if there is a large group.
- Designate someone to be “It” and stand in the center of the circle.
- Have youth count off around the circle, and instruct them to remember their number.
- Explain the rules of the game:
- The person who is “It” will call out two numbers.
- The players with the two numbers called will have to try to trade places with each other in the circle.
- The player who is “It” will try to get to an open space before the other players do.
- The person left without a spot in the circle is now “It.”
- Ask if anyone has any questions about how to play.
- Exclaim, “Ready? Go!”
- Supervise as youth play the game, and be ready to help or referee when needed.
- Continue game play for a specified amount to time.
- Announce, “Time’s up!”
- Congratulate everyone for their cooperation.
- Ask everyone to find a seat.
- Ask the following questions so youth can reflect on their time together:
- What did you enjoy about this activity?
- Would you enjoy playing this game again in the future? Why? Why not?
- If you could make changes to this game, what would you change?
