- Use this technique to guide youth in reflection at the culmination of a project or activity.
- Distribute a piece of paper and pen or pencil to each participant.
- Ask youth to reflect on the activity by writing down answers to these three topics.
- Rose: The best part/something they enjoyed
- Bud: Something they learned or something they look forward to
- Thorn: The worst part or something they need to work on
- Ask if anyone has any questions before you begin.
- Give youth five minutes to write down their thoughts.
- Ask for separate volunteers to share a rose, a bud and a thorn.
- Thank everyone for their participation.
